New Sale: CAT’S CRADLE
September 8, 2009 on 6:00 am | In News, Paranormal Tales | No CommentsNew sale to Samhain! CAT’S CRADLE is a cat shifter story, the first in a planned trilogy called String of Fate. Get it? Cats. String games. Fate. Well, it works in my mind anyway. *shrug*
The hero in this book is a sexy Pantera Noir shifter. The heroine is a nurse who stumbles into his path. There is also a great housecat supporting character named Chuck who does his best to help his human friends. The trilogy will delve into the world of big cat shifters and their ancient society. Panthers, tigers and other big cats will make an appearance. I think you’ll be intrigued by their intricate societal structure.
Right now we’re talking about a January ebook release date, but don’t hold me to it until the powers that be guve me a solid date.
Pre-Order INFERNO from Amazon

The print version of INFERNO is now available for pre-order on Amazon! Check it out HERE.
A forbidden union forged in love-and tempered in hellfire.
One last task and Megan will be free of the debt of honor owed by her family. Spying on Dante, a powerful vampire with questionable friends, sounds simple enough. But her mission is complicated by the fact she’s got something every vampire wants-tangy, powerful, werewolf blood.
It’s easy to capture his attention. The hard part will be getting out with her heart — and soul — intact. Not to mention her life, thanks to a crazed bomber.
Dante isn’t the kind to forgive or forget easily, especially the grudge he holds against werewolves. Still, he is instantly drawn to the injured lone wolf in his care. When he and his friend Duncan treat her wounds, they discover something that marks her as much more than she seems.
The mark is a neon sign warning to be careful, but Dante can’t help himself. He wants her and nothing will stand in his way. Not her species. Not his. Not the strange woman who keeps trying to kill him.
Not even the magical poison in Megan’s blood…
Worldbuilding – My Way
September 4, 2009 on 6:00 am | In Writing | No CommentsWorldbuilding takes many forms. I know a lot has been said recently about the “proper way” to create rules and a strict “bible” for your world when you’re writing in a completely made up place. I beg to disagree. While this system of writing out every last “rule” in your world may work for some people, it tends to stifle the creativity of others – myself included.
I get very annoyed when authors take liberties with their created worlds – changing rules mid-stream. I don’t suggest that doing something like that is a good thing. BUT, as you write your world, things will change. Even in our own modern “real” world, that’s true. Technology changes just about every day. People change. Politics change. To have a static world is unrealistic in the extreme.
In my own writing, I tend to create basic rules for a world, then see where they lead me. I find that some of the best twists and turns happen when I least expect them and I tend to “worldbuild” on the fly. I don’t write elaborate dissertations on exactly how my world works. I don’t really need them – except for a few cheat sheet style notes on little details I might forget – because the world is so real to me as I write it, I just know what works and what doesn’t.
I think – hope - that comes through in the finished product. If a writer knows her world and is comfortable in it, the finished book is much more convincing than if the writer is constantly referring to some source document. That’s just my opinion, of course.

September 1, 2009 on 11:01 am | In Uncategorized | 2 CommentsFirst, thanks for the good thoughts and prayers for my mom. Keep ‘em coming!
I also wanted to tell you all that my editor is very happy with the manuscript of ONCE BITTEN, TWICE DEAD. She got a chance to read it yesterday and it looks like the book is moving right along toward its March 2010 release. Mark your calendars!
And I’m about half finished with the first draft of SMOKE ON THE WATER. You can keep up with my progress in the progress bar on the sidebar of this blog. While I’m working on the book, I’ll be updating it every day or so, even if I don’t blog all the time.
