The D'Arc Side Newsletter
It came as a surprise to me when Chippewa decided to release One & Only a month early, but I'm thrilled to say it's out and available now on the Chippewa website. This short story was the first thing I ever sold. It's taken some time to work through Chippewa's channels, but I'm proud to see it finally out. One & Only was originally conceived and written as an entry for Chippewa's Vamprotica contest. Though not chosen for the anthology, it was deemed able to stand on its own as a single title. But you should know me by now... I write SERIES! One & Only starts a series of vampire tales, the second of which has already been contracted by Chippewa. It's titled Rare Vintage and is working its way through their editing process as we speak. In Dragon Knights news... It's official! Dragon Knights Book 4: Prince of Spies has been picked up by Samhain and will probably be out sometime around the turning of the year. Not quite sure yet, but we've got Book 2: Border Lair set for this month and Book 3: The Ice Dragon set for August, so it'll be a few months after that, at the very least. Looks like 2006 is a very Dragony year! ![]()
*Note: Chippewa let me do the cover art on One & Only myself. Tell me what you think of it on my blog! ![]()

Maiden Flight definitely has a medieval flair to it, and the author’s descriptions of her dragons are not to be missed." Click here to read the full review. 5 Magical Wands from Enchanted Ramblings! Piper says: "This was a heartwarming story with a twist. I found it touching that Belora felt so strongly about both men, and had to struggle to accept that it was ok to love them both. Wonderfully drawn characters fill a unique and fascinating world of dragons, hot sex and magic. I’m desperately anxious to see where Bianca takes this story and what secrets she’ll reveal of Belora’s past and the new threat to this world." Click here to read the full review. Joyfully Reviewed says: "Maiden Flight is a fantasy with a dash of drama and a lot of heat... I thoroughly enjoyed the journey of reading Maiden Flight, and loved the bonding between the dragons, the knights and their families. I am definitely looking forward to any sequels that Ms. D’Arc may later offer." Click here to read the full review.

This is an unedited excerpt. That night, after all were abed, Adora went to check on her new patient. Darian was restless, his leg most likely uncomfortable at just about any angle and she caught him trying to reposition it with a frustrated expression on his face. "Can't sleep?" She advanced into the room, her voice calm as she moved to his painful leg and gave just a touch of her healing power to ease the uncomfortable ache. "You shouldn't spend your energy on me, milady." She sat on the side of his bed. "It's nothing to me, if it will help you rest, Darian." He reached up and stroked her cheek with the back of his fingers. "You're a compassionate woman, Adora, and a beautiful soul." His eyes searched hers. "Why did you come here, to me? Couldn't you sleep either?" This was it, she knew. This was her moment of truth. "No, I couldn't sleep. I kept thinking about what you said about…us." Her eyes sought reassurance from his almost ethereal, sky blue gaze. "You got me thinking, Darian, wanting things I haven't wanted in a very long time." His hand turned to cup her cheek, then moved daringly down her neck to her shoulder, dipping lower, under the lapel of her soft robe. His eyes sought permission before moving further. "Do you want me, my love?" "I want-" She sighed as his hand moved lower, parting her robe. She was daringly bare beneath it. Her voice trembled as she forced the words out. "I want you, Darian. I want to be a woman again." "You've always been that, Adora. You are a desirable, beautiful, brave woman." He sat up to meet her as she sat on the side of his large bed. With gentle hands, he pushed her robe from her shoulders as he moved to meet her lips with his own, taking her in a gentle kiss that spoke of desire, passion, and respect. He deepened the kiss and she went with him, following him back down to the bed, her robe hanging open so that she was bare to his roaming, worshiping hands. Copyright (c) 2006 Bianca D'Arc.
