News

June starts off with a bang, as two of my stories were released right at the end of May. (More about those below.) Right now I'm working on three different projects: the sequel to Hara's Legacy (titled Davin's Quest), a follow-on to Lords of the Were called Sweeter Than Wine (scheduled for November release), and the next Dragon Knights novel, FireDrake (scheduled for Feb '08 release). It's going to be a busy, writing Summer with all those fun characters to play with.

If you're going to be in the Scranton, PA area next week, please come down to the Borders and see me! I'll be signing books on June 9th at the Scranton, PA Borders along with Jacquelyn Frank, Rene Lyons and Stella Price. We'll have goodie bags for all those who drop by and books, of course, along with bookmarks, cards and other things I'd be happy to sign! If you already own one of my books, not to worry, I'd be happy to sign it for you, so bring it along. Hope to see you there!

New Releases:

King of Swords

King of Swords is the first in a series of stories set in the same future as the Sons of Amber, but earlier in the timeline. It takes place a generation or two before Ezekiel, when the ongoing Rim skirmishes with forces of the jit'suku empire make the civilian stations in the outlying areas of the Milky Way Galaxy dangerous places to live. Part of the Fortune's Fool anthology.

Reviews

...For Prince of Spies...

4 Stars from Just Erotic Romance Reviews! Samantha Masters said: "Nico and Arikia work well together as a couple. Nico, especially, is a very nice blend of hard soldier and gentle lover – a character trait that is a foil for Arikia’s tortured past. The heroine’s gradual development from victim mentality to self-confidence is also a nice touch that makes the romance and the sex both hot and tender at the same time."

...For The Ice Dragon...

5 Roses from My Book Cravings! Robin S. said: "Having never been exposed to Ms. D'Arc's work before this reviewer had no idea what to expect from my introduction. I received a rewarding adventure filled with romance and a dash of erotica. Clearly this book can stand alone but as part of a series it becomes a force to be reckoned with, leaving this reviewer wanting more."

5 Red Tattoos from Erotic Escapades! Megan said: "Ms. D'Arc has done it again, creating a perfectly balanced masterpiece of fast paced action and passion that will make you yearn for a dragon warrior of your own. Roland is a gorgeous alpha male who is guaranteed to spark dreams and fantasies of passionate encounters while accepting that he can be taught by the woman he comes to love. Lana is a powerful woman who has been raised as a slave and despite this horrendous start to life manages to become an excellent mother to an infant dragon. She is raising him to become a sweet and gentle soul, despite the fact that he is larger than some of the adult dragons he meets."

4 Hearts from The Romance Studio! Julia said: "I thought this story was wonderfully different and had a lot going for it. I always like a strong heroine who gets to rescue the hero, and the fact that there was non-stop action throughout. The interaction between Lana and her dragon was very convincing, and the relationship with Roland slowly maturing at first was nice to see...Overall, I really enjoyed reading Dragon Knights Book 3: Ice Dragon and I would highly recommend it, particularly if you like dragon stories."

...For Border Lair...

3.5 Hearts from The Romance Studio! Julia said: "I really enjoyed the story line in this book, there was a lot going on to get my attention and keep it...If you like action and adventure in your story with a little bit of spice thrown in, you should give Border Lair a try, it’s worth it!

It’s a serious game of cowboys and aliens when three psychically gifted brothers try to protect the one fragile, empathic woman who holds all their hearts against a menacing alien threat.

First in the Resonance Mates series.

Montana rancher Caleb O’Hara’s precognitive abilities saved his family from an alien attack that annihilated almost everyone on Earth. Now the aliens have come to study the remnants of humanity. Caleb knows the only way to ensure the safety of his young wife, Janie, and his beloved brothers, Justin and Mick, is to keep the family together on their isolated ranch.

All three O’Hara brothers love Jane. They grew up next door to the young, empathic beauty and she stole all their hearts at one time or another, though she married Caleb. Caleb foresees the shocking truth of what they have to do in order to survive, and Caleb’s visions never lie.

They’ll have to come to terms with a new world, and an evolving relationship, all while finding a way to protect two newborn babies who are innocent pawns in the aliens’ deadly game. Somehow, this one talented family holds the key for humanity’s survival on this new, conquered world called Earth.

"You know I love you, don't you?" He smiled as she reached up to run her fingers through his hair. "Do you realize how much?"

"I'm beginning to get an idea. Justin, you've been holding out for so long. I'm sorry we didn't come to this a lot sooner."

He shrugged as he lay back, his thoughts faraway. "It's as it was meant to be. Caleb wouldn't have seen this in his visions if the time wasn't right. And I, for one, never would have agreed to this if his vision hadn't said it was necessary. I respect you too much for that, Jane. You were never meant to be three men's plaything."

She leaned up to see his eyes and the pain hidden in their depths. "You're right. I'm not a plaything, and I would never agree to that. But to be loved by the three of you?" She stroked his face, then down his neck and to the swirling patterns of the dragons covering his chest. "I've belonged to the three O'Hara brothers since I was six years old. Probably even before that, but I remember I was six when I first wished for one of you to marry me."

"Wished?" he asked, intrigued.

She nodded sagely. "On the candles of my birthday cake. From age six on, that was the wish I made every year."

"You're kidding." He reached up to tuck one of her curls behind her ear.

"Cross my heart," she said with mock seriousness, taking his hand and making his finger trace an X across her left breast as they both smiled.

"Okay, maybe I believe you. But even so," his hand cupped her breast, squeezing gently, "I bet you never wished for me."

She traced a circle around his nipple as he reciprocated. "There you'd be quite wrong." She leaned over to lick the dragon's nose, right above his heart. "You were the first one I wished for. You don't remember, I'm sure, but the week before my sixth birthday you killed a snake that would have bitten me. You were my hero ever after, and I thought it only fitting that you should marry me when I got old enough. I knew even then that you would put yourself in danger to protect me."

Justin's emotions were in turmoil, she could tell, and something fragile was blossoming inside his heart. She gave him a moment to come to terms with the idea she had loved him so long, tracing the swirls of the double-headed dragon that decorated his muscular chest with seeming attention, all the while paying a deeper sort of attention to the emotions he was feeling.

Even she was amazed by the depth of emotion her revelation brought out and she felt his discomfort. Justin was a man of controlled passions. He didn't like getting worked up over anything, and when he exploded, look out. She didn't want to make him uncomfortable, though she did think it was good to stretch his emotional boundaries especially now that she could tell he was feeling residual guilt after their explosive lovemaking. Still she didn't want to push him too far.

She nibbled on one of the dragons gracing his muscular chest, arriving at the flat male nipple caught between the dragon's teeth. Taking a hint from the dragon, she did the same with her own teeth, smiling with daring satisfaction when he gasped. She licked him then, letting him go for now as she lay her head on his chest, enjoying the warm feel of him, the steady rise and fall of his muscles beneath her cheek.

"The next year, I wished for Mick. He'd given me a kitten for my birthday and I thought he was the sweetest, gentlest boy I'd ever known. He was so serious when he taught me how to take care of my kitty, I thought maybe I could teach him to lighten up."

"So that's why he became the nasty little prankster that put epoxy in my shoes. It was all your fault." He stroked her hair as they lay quietly, smiling at past memories.

She nodded against his chest. "I'm afraid so. After that I kept daring him to new bits of deviltry and he was amazingly devious in the things he came up with."

"It's that scientific mind of his. Give him a problem and he'll come up with the most creative solution, every time."

She felt the pride Justin felt in his brother's accomplishments and the total lack of jealousy. She even felt his delight as he thought of Mick's practical jokes through the years and how he'd made them all laugh-and keep on their toes around him.

"You've been working behind the scenes all this time, haven't you, sweetheart?" he asked as realization dawned. "You've been challenging us and nurturing us your whole life."

"Mmm," she agreed sleepily, rubbing against his chest. "I decided early on that you all belonged to me, no matter what. You three were like me, with your special gifts, and you understood me and protected me."

"When did you start wishing for Caleb?" he asked, as if unable to prevent himself from voicing his curiosity.

She yawned. "Oh, not until much later. He was so much older, I had to grow up a bit before I came to truly appreciate him. But I'm afraid for a good few solid years there, he was the one I wished for, once I understood he was the one who kept you all together. I later realized my reasons for wishing for him were a bit selfish. I knew if I had him, then I'd have all of you because there was no way he would let either you or Mick stray far from us for long."

He sighed, his rumbling laugh reassuring her as well as the flood of emotions she felt from him. "Well, you got all of us, but in a way I bet you never expected."

She reached up to place her finger over his lips, silencing his words and his residual guilt.

"In a way I never dared dream. In a way that will fulfill my deepest needs and desires. I never would have asked for this, but now that it's within my grasp, I'm going to enjoy every single minute."

He pulled her face up for a long, heated kiss, exploring her lips with a gentle need that overwhelmed her senses.
